CHALLENGEfest Rules

 

REGISTRATION
 
Teams will register Friday night from 5:00-9:00pm at the Sara Lee Soccer Complex. The headquarters tent is located at field five. The following credentials will be required
 

 

  • Two red stamped copies of your official NCYSA roster.
  • Player cards for every player.
  • Medical Releases for every player.

 
GUEST PLAYERS
 
Two guest players are allowed with prior approval from the tournament director. The guest player must be challenge or rec with a valid player card. No classic players are allowed under any circumstance. A player may only play for one team in the tournament. Please fax your request to 336-765-8446. Guest players need a player card, new med. release and a NCYSA tournament guest player form.
 
GAME DURATION
 
 
Game times will be strictly enforced. A grace period of five minutes will be allowed, after which a score of 1-0 will be awarded in the event a team is not ready to play. The clock will not stop nor will any time be added. There are no overtimes.

  • Win-Three pointsTie-One Point

TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURES

  • Head-to-head competition
  • Least goals allowed
  • Most shutouts
  • Most bonus points based on goal differential with a maximum of three per game.
  • Penalty kicks if deciding advancement. Coin flip if deciding seeding.

 

SEMIFINAL AND FINAL MATCH TIE BREAKING PROCEDURE 
  
If the game is tied at the end of regulation, a five-minute rest period is allowed. Penalty kicks will then be used to decide a winner (best of 5 format, single kicks if necessary after that). Any player on the roster can be used in the kick off, but no player can kick twice until all rostered players have kicked.
 
INCLEMENT WEATHER
 
 
Due to weather related events, games may be shortened, delayed, or canceled. Safety is the determining factor. Any game that reaches half time is considered a complete game if weather deems the second half unplayable. Other means such as penalty kicks could be used to determine a match result . These methods will result in a score recorded as 1-0. Teams must report at assigned time unless told otherwise by the tournament director or site coordinator. There are no refunds for weather related events. Weather number is 336- 765-4456 (coaches only call this line)
 
GENERAL GUIDELINES
 
 
Home team is the first listed team and wear lighter colored jerseys. Home team will pick its side of the field and have players and fans on one side. The away team will provide the game ball and wear darker colored jerseys. A team must have at least seven players to start a match. All FIFA and NCYSA rules apply. There are unlimited substitutions and a player may reenter the game with the exception of a red-carded player. Any red card will result in a one game suspension. The tournament director has the right to ban any player, coach or spectator from any further participation in the tournament. Referee decisions are final and no protests are allowed. The tournament director has final say on any disputed matters and may use his discretion as he sees fit.
